Natural Fertility Services for Family Planning

May 9, 2024Library

Catherine Jimenez, M.D.

My name is Catherine Jimenez, and I am a family medicine and obstetrics physician at the Delta Health Family Medicine clinic. My family and I are relatively new to the Western Slope, but I grew up in Southeastern rural Colorado. We are excited to be back in Colorado! I have enjoyed getting to know my patients over the past year and a half. I provide comprehensive care from newborns to the elderly, including surgical obstetrics. I completed my residency at Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency in College Station, Texas.

Within my practice of family medicine, I am passionate about women’s health. I wanted to take this opportunity to share the unique services I offer to patients. I completed a special training at the St. Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction during my medical training. This approach, known as NaProTechnology (Natural Procreative Technology), focuses on charting a woman’s natural cycle using the Creighton Model Fertility Care System, which is a natural family planning method with decades of research behind its use. By charting cycles in this way, I am able to use NaProTechnology to work cooperatively with a women’s natural cycle.

I have seen the benefit of NaProTechnology in my own life as it helped me maintain the pregnancy of my first child and diagnose underlying health conditions. NaProTechnology can also help with couples and women experiencing infertility1, miscarriage, irregular cycles, hormonal problems, premenstrual syndrome, ovarian cysts, unusual bleeding, and the effects of stress. The Creighton Model System is also very effective in helping couples avoid pregnancy without artificial hormones or birth control. Effectiveness rates to avoid pregnancy are 99.5% for perfect use and 96.8% for typical use.2

I could not do this work on my own; and I have paired up with Nissa Brodman, a Certified Fertility Care Practitioner in Steamboat Springs. Nissa also completed training at the St. Paul VI Institute and focuses on teaching the Creighton Model charting system to couples. She is experienced in managing complex charts which allows me to focus on the medical approach after the charting has been done. Her website is https://epiphanyfertilitycare.com. You can also learn more about the NaProTechnology approach at https://naprotechnology.com.

For patients requiring surgical intervention for endometriosis, polycystic ovarian disease, and pelvic adhesions, Dr. Kathleen Sander in Englewood, CO is a board-certified OB/GYN who completed a specialized fellowship focusing on surgical restorative reproductive medicine. Her clinic is called Bella Health. Their website is https://www.bellawellness.org.

If you feel like you or your family could benefit from this approach, I am happy to discuss or answer any questions you might have.

Delta Health Family Medicine is currently accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 970.874.5777 or visit deltahealthco.org.
