September, 2017 – On behalf of the Delta Health Board and the Administrative team, I would like to announce our support of the mill levy increase for the Delta County Ambulance District (DCAD). The hospital and ambulance have a strong partnership that has led to improved access to high-quality care in our county. Positive outcomes in trauma and medical emergencies depend on rapid response times to ensure early intervention, stabilization and timely transport to a healthcare facility for further evaluation and treatment. This requires well-trained emergency medical staff with the right equipment and ongoing support to stay current with technology, new interventions and rescue techniques. The team at DCAD does this better than any I have worked with in the past and we are privileged to have them in our community.
Healthcare has been faced with many changes and challenges over the past several years including a significant decrease in reimbursement. Our ambulance service needs help to offset these decreases in funding in order to maintain the quality services they provide. The thought of losing some or all of the services they offer is deeply concerning and will certainly lead to less than optimal health care outcomes for our county. It is now time for the citizens of Delta County to support the ambulance district that dedicates so much of their time and energy providing emergency services for our community. Please join me in supporting the mill levy increase to ensure access to this highly valuable and vital service in Delta County.
