Delta Health Named Top 100 Rural Community Hospital for the Second Year Running

Top Honors for CEO Cleckler and Delta Health
Jason Cleckler, CEO of Delta Health was recently recognize as one of the “Top 60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know” in the country by Becker’ Hospital Review, which will feature Cleckler and other top rural hospital CEOs i its March issue.

The 60 CEOs on the 2017 list possess extensive experience in healthcare management, demonstrating their commitment to offering high-quality, accessible care to rural populations. Under the CEO’s leadership, according to an article penned by Megan Wood and Brooke Murphy, many of their institutions have earned recognition as top performing rural hospitals in the nation.

For inclusion on the Top Rural Hospital CEOs to Know list, individuals must serve as CEO’s of hospital in “rural” areas, located outside of major metropolitan areas.

Becker’s Hospital Review analyzed compilations by ranking and award agencies, such as The Leapfrog Group listing of top rural hospital and the National Rural Health Association’s list of top rural community hospitals. The editorial team also accepted nominations for the list.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition. I believe it speaks to the great team we have here at Delta Health and our continued commitment to providing quality care to the community we serve. Our progressive approach to improving our hospital is paying dividends and I appreciate the efforts of the entire team,” commented CEO Cleckler.

Cleckler also has been a spokesperson not only for Delta Health in Delta, but all Colorado rural hospitals by participating in a Colorado legislator briefing organized by the Colorado Hospital Association during February to comment on possible impacts of changes to the Affordable Care Act. He was interviewed by National Public Radio in Denver twice and featured in Denver TV coverage of Representative DeGette’s press conference following the health care related briefing. Cleckler has also offered press statements to Grand Junction TV news programs and the Delta County Independent on possible impacts of changes to the Affordable Care Act being repealed or changed and on Delta Health opting out of Proposition 106, commonly referred to as the Right to Die legislation.

Delta County Hospital was also named as one of the top 100 rural community hospitals in the nation in 2017 by the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The release of the top 100 rural and community hospitals this year expands on research presented as part of the 2017 Rural Relevance Study: Vulnerability to Value from The Chartis Group.

The hospitals that are named to this list are top performers in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than their peers, according to the report. In Colorado two other rural community hospitals were also named to the top 100 in the nation including Montrose Memorial Hospital and Sterling Regional MedCenter, according to an article written by Tamara Rose for Becker’s Hospital Review on line, dated February 20, 2017.
