El Pomar Council Members in the San Juan Region Support Local Communities

Colorado Springs, Colo. – August 30, 2016 – As part of its Regional Partnerships program, El Pomar Foundation awarded four grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to organizations nominated by El Pomar Foundation San Juan Regional Council members.

The grants were awarded to the following organizations, at the given locations and dates.

Tuesday, Aug. 30 – Delta, Colo.

  • 1:00 p.m. – 1501 E. 3 rd St.

$2,500 to the Delta Health Foundation for the Delta Health Urgent Care- nominated by Regional Council member Betsy Marston, editor, High Country News

  • 1:50 p.m. – 360 E. 8 th St.

$2,500 to A Kidz Clinic-nominated by Regional Council member Betsy Marston Telluride, Colo.

  • 6:00 p.m. – 120 S. Pine St.

$5,000 to the Pinhead Institute-nominated by Regional Council member Andrew Karow, Chief Digital Officer, Alpine Bank

Wednesday, Aug. 31 – Gunnison, Colo.

  • 2:00 p.m. – 525 N. Main St.

$5,000 to the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley for its Gunnison Valley Health Resource Guide program- nominated by Regional Council member Hap Channell, retired county commissioner

Since 2006, El Pomar has given over $3.2 million to the six-county San Juan region.

The Regional Partnerships program is geographically based and combines El Pomar Foundation and local resources to impact and serve the needs of Colorado communities. More than 70 community leaders make up 11 Regional Councils representing all 64 Colorado counties. Since 2003 the Councils have invested more than $15 million in their home communities.

El Pomar Foundation is one of the largest and oldest private foundations in Colorado.  El Pomar contributes approximately $22 million annually through grants and Community Stewardship programs to support Colorado nonprofit organizations involved in health, human services, education, arts and humanities, and civic and community initiatives.  Spencer and Julie Penrose founded El Pomar in 1937.
