At Delta Health, we aim to provide a variety of programs that focus on both prevention and healthy coping with diseases like diabetes. When it comes to diabetes and weight management, we understand that it can be difficult for both patients and their families to make proper, nutritionally beneficial decisions that manage symptoms and decrease the risk for disease progression. This fall, we are offering a program called “Feast and Fix with Diabetes”. This is an affordable and interactive program that features diabetes education, group discussion, and live cooking demos with a Registered Dietitian. Cooking demos will break down the process of meal planning, preparation, and portion control. Featured meals will not only be carbohydrate controlled for blood sugar management, but also easy to make and affordable on any budget. After preparation, participants will enjoy the meal. The Registered Dietitian will be available to answer questions and provide support to participants who are looking to take control of their diabetes and make a permanent lifestyle change. The program consists of 3 classes, which will be held on Tuesdays, the 4th, 11th, and 18th of October 2016 from 12-2 pm. The cost for the program is $20 (cost includes all 3 classes and meals). Pre-registration for the program is required.
If you are looking to lose weight and get in shape, Delta Health has another new and exciting program available called “The Get Up and GO”. This is a weight management program that combines nutrition education, regular exercise, and group support developed by the Registered Dietitians and licensed Exercise Physiologists. For each participant, this team of professionals provides individualized exercise and nutrition recommendations that will promote weight loss and gain of muscle. The program is 8 weeks in length and participants can join at any time. The class is every Tuesday afternoon and the cost is $80 for the 8 weeks. Pre-registration for the program is required.
