Delta, CO (October 6, 2020) – Delta Health’s (Delta Health) first drive-through flu shot clinic was a great success and helped community members easily and safely receive their flu vaccinations during a year unlike any other.
The event kicked off at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, with a line of cars down Stafford Lane and people eager to receive their flu shots. The drive-through event ran smoothly and ended at 12:00 p.m.
The flu clinic was a joint effort between Delta Health and the Delta County Health Department (DCHD) who also ran a walk-through flu clinic on Saturday. Both organizations wanted to provide the resources for community members in Delta County to protect themselves this flu season.
“Our first drive-through flu clinic was extremely successful in providing an invaluable service to Delta County,” said Matt Heyn, CEO for Delta Health. “We are thankful that we were able to safely and efficiently serve more the community on Saturday and we will be continuing to administer flu vaccines at all of our primary care clinics across Delta County.”
Delta Health healthcare staff in “flu crew” shirts helped check people in, provided paperwork assistance and Delta Health nurses administered the flu shots. Community members were able to quickly get vaccinated and were on their way within just a few minutes.
With the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) predicting that the flu vaccine will be more important than ever this year, hosting this event was extremely important to Delta Health and the DCHD. The CDC recommends that all people six months and older get a yearly flu vaccine and that older adults specifically, get a flu vaccine for increased protection all season long.
